Young Musicians and Artists Video and Script

Young Musicians & Artists is a two-week resident visual and performing arts summer program for students in the 4th grade through 12th grade. YMA, now in its 42nd year, is housed on the beautiful and historic campus of Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. The Mill Stream meanders through campus allowing YMA students to enjoy the surrounding beauty while focusing on artistic excellence. The YMA faculty is selected because they are excellent instructors who are interested in the well being of each student. Most faculty members have been with the YMA program more than five years, many more than ten years. The ten-to-one student/teacher ratio offers in-depth instruction and exploration into all facets of artistic expression. It is the superb instruction by the faculty, the camaraderie established between counselors and their students, the creative environment, and the demanding yet fun-filled two-week period, that forms lasting friendships and brings former students back year after year to relive the magic of YMA. The artistic programs offered at YMA are: Orchestra, Band, and Choir in Session 1. And Creative Writing, Dance, Musical Theatre, Photography, Piano, Technical Theatre, Theatre, and Visual Arts in Session 2. Classes begin at 8:30 AM. The day consists of 4 hours of class in the major area of study, 45 minutes of an elective class, practice sessions, 30 minutes of a group discussion, meals, and a 40-minute rest period. Supervised recreational activities are provided after class. Activities include: swimming in Willamette’s 25-meter indoor pool, softball, tennis, volleyball, and soccer. Most evenings include talent shows and performances. Internationally known guest artists are invited in during both sessions for workshops and performances. Previous guest artists include the innovative theatre troupe Imago, Portland Oregon’s exciting Do Jump! Movement Theatre, Violinist, Ani Kavafian, writer Stevan Allred, and violist Paul Neubauer.

Script restrictions

Your script can read up to 1 minute in length or 225 words. Additional fee of $70 wil be charged for scripts 226 - 350 words which reads for 1.5 minutes. $125 fee will be charged for scripts 351 - 575 words which reads for 2 minutes. Please do not include dates in your script as they will become outdated next year.
